The City of York has entered into an agreement to purchase the former York Drug Store from Bell Properties, LLC, for the development of a new municipal complex. When it comes to building a sustainable community, there are endless decisions to be made and details to consider.  The path to sustainability can be long and winding, and the choices to consider can no doubt make some people’s heads spin. Keeping to that path, without losing sight of the need to build and nurture a successful community, can make for a complicated journey. The Mayor’s Office is conducting outreach to hear from both traditional and new partners and stakeholders about what is important and how we can work more effectively together. We are crafting strategies and developing measures for a more sustainable future for the City of York, to improve quality of life and become more economically and environmentally sustainable. We are evaluating different priorities, including walkability, zoning codes, and City ordinances to work toward equitable development and support community goals for downtown redevelopment, housing, local businesses, jobs,  transportation, and create opportunities that meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. "Working together as a community, we can do more."
